Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut sets 0-400-0 km/h world record - and three more!
In the early hours of Thursday, June 27th, 2024, at an airfield in Örebro, Sweden, Koenigsegg Automotive reaffirmed their dominance in the world of hypercar performance by setting an incredible new 0-400-0 km/h world record. Which record did they break? Their own record, set by the Regera in 2023!
This time, the car of choice was the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut. This fully-homologated, road-legal rocket ship set a time of 27.83 seconds to travel from a standstill to 400 km/h and back to a stop again, nearly a second faster than the previous record (28.81 seconds). The record has been verified by Racelogic using industry-standard timing equipment.
The Jesko Absolut used was running in a standard, as-delivered condition, using E85 fuel and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 R tires. The only modifications made to the car were the addition of a roll cage for driver safety and a One:1 driver seat, the driver’s preference for such events.
The driver? None other than Markus Lundh (see below), the factory test driver whom Egg Registry had the privilege of interviewing last year. With his nerves of steel, Lundh piloted the Jesko Absolut to 400 km/h in a remarkable 18.82 seconds (another world record). Then, it took the Jesko Absolut just 9.01 seconds to stop from 400 km/h thanks to the cutting-edge carbon ceramic brakes. The remaining two world records broken are for 0-250 mph in 19.2 seconds and 0-250-0 mph in 28.27 seconds.
The ‘Absolut’ trim for the Jesko is an option offered to any client with a Jesko allocation. It costs €753,000 on top of the normal Jesko base price. For that, customers get a hypercar specifically conceived for straight-line speed.
Koenigsegg advertises that the body of the Jesko Absolut “is designed with a smaller frontal area, limited and targeted venting for the release of high-pressure air, and no active aero, all intended to minimize drag. Consequentially, the Jesko Absolut has one of the lowest drag ratings in the hypercar world, with a Cd of just 0.278.”
After the run, CEO Christian von Koenigsegg had this to say:
"This record run validated the accuracy of the simulated and calculated performance of the Jesko Absolut, which gives us great confidence in its ability to outright be the fastest, fully homologated production car in the world. Now it is all down to tire testing, development, and approval, before we finally can make an attempt at that record. In parallel, we plan to see what kind of records the Jesko Attack can achieve, given its astonishing track performance."
As of July 1st, 2024, Koenigsegg has delivered six Jesko Absoluts to customers: five to Europe and one to Asia. More units are currently in production and will be registered here as we find them.
Congratulations to Koenigsegg and the entire team on this fabulous record!
