General History

CCX #7041 first debuted as a 2007 CCX at the opening of Koenigsegg Abu Dhabi in October 2007. Christian von Koenigsegg presented this car along with #7039. In November 2007 these same two cars were shown at the 2007 Middle East International Motor Show in Dubai. After that it was displayed at the Abu Dhabi Koenigsegg dealer for some time, but was never sold and eventually made its way back to Koenigsegg headquarters.

In 2008 this car was offered as the 2nd Grand Prize in the Cash and Cars Lottery in Canada, benefitting the Alberta Cancer Foundation and the Canadian Cancer Society. The car was shipped to Bentley of Calgary for promotional purposes during the year, becoming the first-ever Koenigsegg in Canada, but under the arrangement it was returned to Koenigsegg Headquarters before November. The winning ticket holder (drawn in late November) was Louie Edgi, a resident of Norman Wells, Northwest Territories. Mr. Edgi had purchased his ticket while in Edmonton for cancer treatments. As Norman Wells is a landlocked town with no road access to the rest of the country, and possesses only one 12-kilometer unpaved road, Mr. Edgi understandably opted instead for the cash value of the prize, $1M Canadian. Thus the car remained unsold and ended up in storage at Koenigsegg in Sweden.

Sometime in 2009, a specific request came from a U.S. collector for a Koenigsegg CCXR.  Koenigsegg only had type approval for the CCX series in the U.S. for Model Year 2008.  As this car was yet unsold, and had been constructed within the proper build period, it was decided to convert #7041 into a US-spec 2008 CCXR to fulfill the order. The car did not actually arrive in the US until February 2010, when it joined the CCXR Special Edition #7072 in a private collection in Florida. It was periodically seen out and about in Florida during its two years spent in this collection. During this ownership, the car was used by Universal Pictures for the fifth instalment of the Fast & Furious movie franchise, Fast Five, where it made a brief cameo.

This car did not change hands again until November 2012, and went into another private collection in Florida, known as The Pinnacle Portfolio. 2012 was a big year for this collection as, in addition to #7041, the owner purchased a McLaren F1 HDK and a Ferrari 250 LM. Unfortunately, it was rarely spotted during this three year ownership.

#7041 was sold at auction from this collection by RM Sotheby's in August 2015 in Monterey, California, with the predecessor of this very registry being listed as one of the sources for the sales catalog! The sales price was $825,000 before fees, with the car selling to a gentleman in Denver, Colorado. After about two years in Colorado, the car was sold yet again, this time to a collector in Houston, Texas circa 2017. The car did not spend much time in Texas before appearing briefly in Southern California having found a new owner based one state to the north.

The car was sold into one of the biggest collections in the US, based in southern Oregon, where it spent some time in a garage with a CCX Edition, an Agera RS, a McLaren F1 HDK, multiple Ferrari 250 GTOs, and lots more. During this period, the car was upgraded with the Ghost Package, which adds the Twin Deck F1 wing, a bigger diffusor and a CCX(R) Edition front splitter and winglets. It received a straight piped exhaust by Boden Autohaus in 2020, and had gunmetal coloured wheels for some time.

In January 2023, the car was acquired by a collector in Utah and received silver nine-spoke wheels again. The car spent the first half of 2023 in Draper, Utah in the “Utah Supercar Owner” car collection, having seen more road time in that short period than it had for four years in Oregon.

In July 2023, this car was sold and left Utah, going up for sale in Miami awaiting a new home. It didn’t last long on the market and was quickly purchased by a collector based in Southern California. It made its debut with its new owner, The Caretakers Collection, at Monterey Car Week in August 2023. It has since been spotted driving around Beverly Hills, California, near where it resides.

Exterior Spec

This CCX(R) is painted in Storm Black with a clear coated carbon front splitter and Top Gear wing.  It had silver rear center section and model call out panels on the sides.  The model call-out lettering on the sides was done in a contrasting grey color to the silver of the side panel. However, this has been inverted when the Ghost Package was installed: The clasp and model call out panels are now grey and the badges are silver. When this car was a CCX, it rode on the telephone dial style wheels.  Upon changing to a CCXR, it wore silver nine-spoke wheels, changed to gunmetal when the Ghost Package was installed. This change was reverted though, when the car was sold to Utah. To comply with US regulation, the rear sidemarker lights were changed from white to red.

Interior Spec

This upholstery in this car features black alcantara seats and dashboard covering, with contrasting white alcantara seat inserts.  The doors are additionally accented by white alcantara panels.  The center console section is covered in black leather.  These features did not change during the conversion from CCX to CCXR.

However, two details in the interior were changed upon the conversion to U.S.-spec CCXR.  To accommodate U.S. regulations, a passenger airbag was added during its transformation.  Additionally, the gauge cluster was changed from the original Stack unit, to the proprietary Koenigsegg “chronograph” cluster.  Naturally as a US-spec car the speedometer in this cluster reads in mph.
