Fire at Koenigsegg Factory in Ängelholm
Breaking: A fire has occurred at the Koenigsegg factory in Ängelholm, Sweden this evening.
According to SVT, Sweden’s national public broadcaster, emergency services were called to the scene to respond to one or more lithium batteries on fire inside the factory. Images provided to Egg Registry suggest that the fire was relatively small and contained, a stark contrast to the February 2003 fire at Koenigsegg’s Margretetorp factory which caused extensive destruction.
The incident occurred at approximately 17:30 on Thursday and the fire has since been extinguished. One individual was taken to hospital with injuries relating to smoke inhalation. We keep all impacted in our thoughts and wish for a speedy recovery.
Koenigsegg is currently producing the Jesko and beginning production with the CC850. Neither vehicle utilises hybrid power, but like all cars they contain batteries. It is unclear exactly what caused this incident.
Egg Registry reached out to Koenigsegg for comment and we were told that “it was luckily a rather minor event in a development area and the fire was put out quickly.” The company also confirmed that “no cars or persons where harmed, apart from one person taken to the hospital for observation [but] thankfully this person seems to be in good condition.”
With production full speed ahead for the Jesko, Koenigsegg also confirmed that “operations [will] continue largely like normal” tomorrow.
