Morocco’s Secret: The Story of the Koenigsegg Regera hypercar hidden in Rabat

For nearly four years, the Egg Registry team have been keeping a closely-guarded secret. In celebration of 2024 Moroccan Independence Day, coupled with the following information becoming somewhat more public in Morocco, we are ready to tell this fantastic story: the story of Koenigsegg Regera d’Élégance, the only Koenigsegg in Morocco!

The Koenigsegg Regera produces 1,500hp with its twin-turbo V8 engine assisted by electric motors. The Swedish hypercar holds the 0–400–0 km/h world record in a staggering 28.81 seconds. Unveiled in 2015, only 85 units were produced for the world, with production ceasing in 2022.

Chassis 7139 was unveiled in March 2018 at the Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS), which at the time was the pinnacle event for manufacturers to unveil their latest creations. This Regera is painted in Swedish Blue and has a wide blue-tinted carbon fibre centre section. Though sometimes difficult to see, it also has thin Ocean Green striping. It is optioned with AirCore Carbon wheels and Swedish Blue brake calipers. The interior is a two-tone Swedish Blue and Ocean Green Alcantara. All in all, it is a very blue specification.

Following the Geneva Motor Show, chassis 7139 was delivered to Saudi Arabia and, essentially, fell off the face of the earth. The car has not been displayed publicly since.

After its disappearance, the Registry team began to work behind the scenes to learn more. There were whispers of the car in Riyadh, but nothing concrete. Then, just under four years ago, a breakthrough. We received a tip that Regera d’Élégance had left Saudi Arabia and made its way to Africa.

The story goes as follows: Regera d’Élégance was gifted by the Saudi owner, possibly a part of the Saudi Royal Family, to the Moroccan Royal Family, specifically King Mohammed VI. In the years since this breakthrough, we received more information and eyewitness accounts of the car in Morocco, as well as concrete proof, which remains strictly private.

This Koenigsegg Regera lives in Rabat, Morocco, in one of the warehouses storing the vast car collection of the Moroccan Royal Family. It lives alongside hundreds of Mercedes-Benzes including an SLR Stirling Moss (gifted by Kuwait), as well as a Bugatti Chiron (gifted by Qatar) - both pictured below.

The Regera is not believed to be registered and though it has been driven at least once, the outing is not known to have been photographed. Sadly, the car is very much a garage queen.
